Research objectives:
- Contribute to getting to know the world heritage sites and increasing their touristic utilization.
- Presenting the uniqueness of the various heritage sites and thereby emphasizing their important role in tourism.
- Complex examination of settlements. In addition to settlement historical research, local values and socio-economic conditions are also highlighted.
- Emphasizing the importance of rural development tasks in the life of settlements.
Description and results of research:
- Within the framework of settlement geography research, the Sátoraljaújhely district and all the small settlements in the district were subjected to a detailed investigation, but we examined the role of the fairs in the development of the city of Debrecen, and most recently, one of Debrecen's districts, Józsa, which was once an independent settlement, was presented in detail using the methods of historical geography within a given time interval.
- Tourism geography research also helps in the teaching of individual tourism subjects, as the detailed presentation of certain areas of tourism through given examples makes the curriculum more understandable and accessible.
- It is the direct task of research to draw attention to the special importance of heritage tourism.
