Student Mobility Visa/Residence Permit Process

First, you have to pay your tuition fee after which the Final Letter of Acceptance from University of Nyíregyháza will be issued and sent to you via email.

If you are a scholarship student (Stipendium Hungaricum or Diaspora), you will need the Letter of Award. The Letter of Award provides proof that your fees are covered by the scholarship.

Students who are required to apply for a Visa entitling them to a residence permit, have to obtain (D-type) Visa for purpose of studies in their country of origin or at the Hungarian Embassy closest to their place of residence. For more information please visit the website of the Hungarian Embassy in your country.

The earliest appointment can be made 90 days before arriving Hungary.

To apply for a residence permit, you need to submit documents proving that you already have accommodation in Hungary. Therefore, it's important that if you are coming from a country that is under visa obligations, before applying for the visa, you should have accommodation that you can officially verify.

All residence permits for the purpose of studies are sent to the address of the university by post once it’s issued. You can collect it from International Relations Office after enrollment.

Accommodation registration has the function of an address card.  It has to be available at all times and be presented to the authorities if requested. You will receive your QR code „address card” in pdf format in your Enter Hungary inbox. To register your accommodation you need to sign up at Enter Hungary website here: https://enterhungary.gov.hu/eh/?en

Please download and print the completed Notification of Accommodation form and ask your dormitory management/landlord to sign it before you upload it.

In case you change your accommodation while in Hungary, you have to report your new address within 3 days.

Most immigration tasks have to be managed online (extension of residence permit, change of accommodation etc.).
