“I believe it is important to give back to the community…”

During my studies at the University of Nyíregyháza, I gained not only professional knowledge but also achieved significant personal growth. The courses deepened my understanding in my field of study, while practical experiences and group projects prepared me for real-life challenges. University life was extremely enriching for me—I met inspiring professors, formed lasting friendships, and participated in various student events that broadened my horizons.

Looking ahead, my goal is to further deepen my professional knowledge through postgraduate studies and then build a career where I can apply what I have learned and have a positive impact on my environment. I am particularly interested in research and innovation within my field.

To stay connected with the university, I intend to actively participate in the alumni community—sharing my experiences, mentoring others, and attending events. I believe in giving back to the community and maintaining relationships that foster mutual support and growth.

“My time at the university was valuable not just academically…”

As a student in the Hungarian language preparatory course at the University of Nyíregyháza I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the Hungarian language and culture. My time at the university was valuable not only academically but also because of the supportive learning environment and diverse student community. I plan to continue my higher education in Hungary, focusing on international relations or social sciences, where I can contribute to cross-cultural understanding and cooperation.

I believe that maintaining a connection with the alumni community will be essential for my personal and professional growth. I aim to participate in alumni events, share my experiences with future students, and build lasting relationships that promote collaboration and mutual support.

I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nyíregyháza, where I had the unique challenge of learning in Hungarian. As an international student, this experience pushed me to overcome linguistic and cultural barriers, while also allowing me to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. It was a rewarding journey that not only expanded my academic horizons but also helped me grow personally. I graduated as one of the top students and was honored with the Kiválósági Díj, an award that holds great meaning for me, my family, and my community in Angola. This recognition motivates me to continue striving for excellence and to give back by creating engineering projects that can benefit Angola in the future. The alumni community at the University of Nyíregyháza has been a valuable support system, offering guidance and professional connections. I found it easy to connect with fellow alumni, and they have played a crucial role in my development. Looking ahead, my plans include pursuing a master’s degree or entering the workforce. Either way, I aim to apply my knowledge to make a positive impact in the field of mechanical engineering.

Our alumni Omar Maysara visited us from Brussels on February 11, 2026. We were delighted to welcome him and gave him the opportunity to share his experiences with current students and answer their questions about his years here. Photos from the event are now available, and we thank him for the insightful presentation!
