Description and results of research:
I wrote a study on the book reading and library usage habits of high school students living in Nyíregyháza, and I presented their leisure activities with the aid of a survey. The survey conducted among the group of 15-17-year-old students who socialized in the virtual community, confirmed the assumption that the demand for reading paper-based books has significantly decreased among vocational school-, vocational high school- and high school students alike. Among the leisure activities, reading fiction is in the last place, slightly ahead of it (in the penultimate place) is reading non-fiction. Reading as an activity has become independent from all previous canons: new readers and new reading habits are emerging. Education plays a decisive role in raising the standard of reading culture, and the development of differentiated reading comprehension adapted to individual development.
