Name of the Institute:
University of Nyíregyháza, Institute of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences

Research objectives:
Study the cryogen environment effects on the drilled hole accuracy, the hole roughness and on the chip removing mechanism.

Description and results of research:
The chips in the cold environment (-35 ° C) did not lint, if are set the right cutting parameters the chip does not twist on the tool. The clearance of the hole diameter machined in a cryogenic environment is significantly smaller than on room temperature. In the case of cryogenic cooling, most roughness parameter combinations measured smaller surface roughness values. The roughness of the machined surface is smaller when are machined whit cryogen cooling.
