
The Stipendium Hungaricum Excellence Award 2024 represents a prestigious recognition for international students participating in the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme. This programme, established by the Hungarian government, aims to enhance Hungary's international engagement in higher education and promote its academic institutions on a global stage. The Excellence Award recognizes outstanding academic achievements, leadership, and contribution to university life by the scholarship recipients.
The Stipendium Hungaricum Excellence Award has several key objectives:
Encouraging Academic Excellence: The award aims to promote high academic performance among international students studying in Hungarian universities, fostering a competitive yet enriching academic environment.
Fostering Global Collaboration: By recognizing international students, the award helps enhance cross-cultural exchange and encourages long-term relationships between Hungary and the students’ home countries.
Strengthening the University’s International Image: The award promotes the academic reputation of Hungarian universities, attracting more talented international students and positioning the institutions as top choices for global scholars.
University of Nyíregyháza were able to select 1 scholarship holder from the English language study programme and 2 scholarship holders from study programmes in Hungarian, provided that the candidates met the selection criteria. The award is also a feedback for their professors and teachers who teach the students of excellence.
Awarding of the scholarships of excellence and welcoming new students were held at a grand ceremony organized by Tempus Public Foundation. The event took place on 16 October 2024 in Danubia Hotel, Budapest. The opening speeches were followed by the presentation of certificates and the welcoming of new students, who took part at a workshop and Hungarian folk dancing practice.
