Cobbled streets, riverside stretches and a World Heritage background - five foreign students and one of the University of Nyíregyháza's staff members from the International Relations Office completed the night race in the special atmosphere of Tokaj. The sporting event was not only for the pleasure of movement, but also to strengthen the community experience.
For the third time, the Tokaj by Night Run was open to those who like to challenge themselves in unusual surroundings and at an unusual time.The field, which included the international team of the University of Nyíregyháza, took off from the Tokaj Festival Stadium in the late evening of 20 June 2025.
The route of the race led through the historical centre of Tokaj and along the banks of the Bodrog and Tisza rivers - with special lights and picturesque surroundings. The illuminated buildings and the riverside stretches created a very special atmosphere for this special racing event.
Four Turkish students and one Philippine student from the University of Nyíregyháza took part in the 5- kilometer race, along with a member of staff from the International Relations Office, who also took part. The runners started at 21:40 from the Festival Stadium. They did not finish in first place, but the participation gave them a real experience and a sense of belonging to the community.
This is not the first time that students and staff of the University of Nyíregyháza have participated in the Tokaj race, and the tradition is set to continue. The institution considers it important that its students take an active part in the sport and cultural life of the region - after all, the university years are not only about learning, but also about experiences.
